| Actually, you don't get to pick where they send you. Usually, they give you two billets and you get to choose the lesser evil.
Though you'll have a good chance of getting 101st. They're headed to Afghanistan in July.
And no way in hell you're making captain in 3 years.
EDIT: srry navy captain WAAAY outranks army captain. use pay grades from now on. I thought you meant 0-6 (as it is in the navy). 0-3 may be attainable in 3 years, but you never want to start commissioned. For one, EVERYONE hates officers.
Heres what you do so you aren't an ass like 90% of officers are. (this is, of course, assuming you want to make a career out of the army. only reason you would want to be an officer)
Enlist and in your first enlistment, make e-6. When they ask you to reenlist, tell them you want a commission. That way, when you make officer, you will be (depending on how well you've done your job thus far) you can be anywhere from 0-1e5(assuming your first enlistment is 5 years) to 0-3e5. Basically, your pay is amazing at a low rank, and you will generally make rank faster with an e tacked on the end of your rank.
and this way, you know what it's like to be an enlisted man and won't be a cockbag.
Personally, i think enlisted is the way to go. We actually do the work. the officers are paper-pushers, for the most part. if you really wanted a commission, you can try Warrant officer, which is the best of both worlds. | |

| Well thats usually not the issue. Alot of officers can't help that they're cockbags for the mere fact that they don't have any hands-on experience doing what the enlisted do. They are trained to train an enlisted guy, whereas an enlisted guy is trained by people who have done the job, then they go do the job, then they train using their experience.
Idunno, man. Personal preference, i guess.
And if i ever meet you, I'm not saluting.
Just saying. | |
